United have secured one draw and three wins in their last four outings while City are winless in nine league games - a run which dates back to New Year's Day - and now sit just four points above the drop zone.

McCann admitted his side would be "hammered" by Leeds without huge improvements following a midweek defeat to Barnsley, and the Northern Irishman believes his players face a difficult task against the Whites.

"It is going to be tough," he told Hull Live.

"Leeds are a good team, they have got their mojo back, they will bring a strong following and they will expect to win.

"They struggled for a bit and have come back and won three games 1-0 in a row, that is the fine margins in the Championship.

"If Josh Magennis had scored that chance against Barnsley, it could have been a very different game.

"If you look at us this season, we have caused some upsets, no one gives us a chance against Leeds and rightly so because we have not won in nine.

"The boys are in a good place, they do not get too down, they know when they have not been good enough and they will come back.

"I have said to the boys I would love to play myself, it would be a great occasion.

"We will be written off and rightly so, everybody will want to get on top of us and critic us but that is football, the sign of madness is doing the same thing over again when it doesn’t work.

"We have got a good changing room, it is about everyone now making sure that everyone realises where we are now.

"I like my team to take risks and in the last seven, eight or nine games, we haven’t done that. We want them to be brave and if they lose it, all we ask is that they show good reaction to win it back."
