The Brazilian has established himself as a central figure in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at Elland Road since arriving on a permanent transfer from Rennes over the summer, and has already picked up four goals and four assists during his time with the Whites.

The 24-year-old has even been linked with potential interest from Liverpool, as per reports, and Carragher has been suitably impressed with what he has seen from the wide man over the course of his debut season in England.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football prior to Leeds’ 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, the pundit said: “Bielsa always likes real wide players and attacking players in those positions.

“I’ve been really impressed with his passing. He’s a massive goal threat.

"We’ve seen him on that left side at Goodison Park, on that right side cutting in on that left foot as we see so often now with players.

"There were actually a few passes I was watching, certainly at Leicester, that really impressed me.

"He has been a standout, certainly in the last few weeks, and he’s played a huge role in allowing Bamford to get some goals”.

Carragher isn’t the only pundit to have voiced his approval of Raphinha recently.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, Paul Merson said: “He’s my cup of tea. Absolute cup of tea.

"I’m a big fan of his, and I think the recruitment there to find that player… for £17 million there’ll be people scratching their head thinking, ‘How didn’t we get him?’.”
