Danny Cowley has revealed that Huddersfield Town captain Jonathan Hogg will miss this weekend's clash with Leeds United.

The Terriers midfielder missed his sides 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic last week having limped off with a knee injury against Bristol City.

Hogg - who saw a specialist over the issue - has now also been ruled out of Saturday afternoon's Yorkshire derby clash at Elland Road.

"Tomorrow is too soon," Cowley told his pre-match press conference over his skipper's fitness.

"He has ligament injury on outside of his knee.

"We were worried initially, but we now know it’s improved a lot and hopefully he won’t be too long.

"You always miss him. He is a warrior, a fighter and carries the DNA of the club in his blood."

The only other player unavailable for the clash in LS11 is defender Tommy Elphick (knee).

Cowley admitted that he was still hopeful over the involvement of midfielder Andy King (hamstring) while goalkeeper Kamil Grabara (head) has returned to his squad.

"The lads who played last week did well," he continued. "But this is a new game and we have to consider all options and select the right team.

"We are hopeful Andy King will be available to us. He has calmness and is a good option for us.

"Grabara played against a strong Blackpool side midweek and, while he didn’t have lots to do, what he did he did well.

"So he is available to us - and we now have three No1s available to us. It’s competition for places and it drives people on.

"We encourage players to embrace it."

Marcelo Bielsa has just one senior player missing as striker Jean-Kevin Augustin won't be available for selection due to a hamstring strain.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw has already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after undergoing hip surgery in America.
