In the meantime, for a bit of fun, we fired up the latest edition of Football Manager, and simulated the game into the future. We had a look at the starting XI and the manager it predicts will be on show for the Whites on the opening day of the 2020/21 season.
7. CM: Kalvin Phillips
Despite interest from a host of clubs over the summer, the Whites held on to their star man, and he makes the starting XI for the opening day of the season.
8. CM: Jamie Shackleton
After an excellent pre-season, the promising youngster bursts into the starting line-up, with Mateusz Klich having to settle for a spot on the bench.
9. AMR: Borja Iglesias
Brought in from Real Betis, the powerful forward is farmed out on the right wing He's got pace to burn and is a ruthless finishing, so should do an excellent job
10. AMC: Pablo Hernandez
Leeds' midfield veteran is pushed up into the number ten role, and will be hopeful of making a big impact in the top tier despite his advancing footballing years.
11. AML: Francisco Portillo
The 30-year-old completes an all-Spanish attacking midfield trio, bringing real flair and tenacity to the left wing. He was another free transfer, joining from Getafe.
12. ST: Tyler Roberts
Alas, a permanent deal for Jean-Kevin Augustin never came to fruition, after RB Leipzig decided to give him a chance to impress. Roberts leads the line for Leeds.
