Marcelo Bielsa's side returned to winning ways in the Premier League in midweek as they ran out 2-1 winners over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Goals from wingers Raphinha and Jack Harrison lifted the Whites to victory over the Magpies on Tyneside in a hard-fought encounter.

Centre-back Diego Llorente - who was making his first start to the club since joining last summer - suffered an early hamstring injury which forced into bringing Struijk off the bench in the opening exchanges.

The defender, though, put in a solid performance in difficult circumstances alongside club captain Liam Cooper and Elland Road supporters noticed his contribution in victory.

Here's what fans have been saying across social media in today's supporters talking point:

@RPlufc93 I know I'm a Struijk fanboy but I think he deserves so much credit for again having to step in and do a job when so inexperienced, he wouldn't have expected to play so often this season but i think he has done great #lufc

@DarrenDriver Pascal Struijk is the best centre back at the club. There. I said it.

@tommy_lufc Good win on the road but I’m okay with never seeing any of that match apart from the goals ever again. Raphinha the obvious choice for MOTM but I actually think Struijk runs him fairly close given the task at hand. Toughed it out against quite a physical side at the end. #lufc

@LUDBOFFICIAL Struijk stepped up tonight. Growing in to the role. Dallas is invaluable. A managers dream, Milner like. Wouldn’t swap Meslier for any keeper in the Prem. how good is he going to be ?

@CheckerTransfer I know llorente picking up an injury was disappointing, but how impressive was struijk again last night? come on leaps on bounds this season. Real gem #lufc

@EthanFromOnline Struijk now has 3 wins in his last 4 games starting at centre back (I include last night, he essentially played all of it). Happy enough that we missed out on Gvardiol now, it's clear Pascal has a massive future with us. #LUFC

@thomas_wilson95 Mad to think that if Pascal Struijk continues to develop and perform the way he is then two of Cooper, Koch and Llorente are going to miss out next season. Koch to be backup to Phillips rather than Struijk imo. He's played midfield roles before and Struijk is much better at CB. I've always been a massive fan of Struijk since he joined from Ajax. Corberan did a brilliant job developing and Bielsa is taking him to the next level. Has all the physical and technical tools to go to the next level with game time.

@Hughesylufc85 Really really impressed with Struijk last night. He’s still so young and has very little first team experience never mind premier league experience.

@_JordanMatthew Pascal Struijk is a serious talent. So calm and collected for his age and experience. Raphinha has the sauce but we all know that. Oh and Ayling is the player of the year absolute machine of a man.
