'He can go all the way' - Leeds United loanee Robbie Gotts praised for swift impact at Salford City

Leeds United prospect Robbie Gotts has a chance to go 'all the way' according to Salford City head coach Richie Wellens.

The 21-year-old right-back turned midfielder is enjoying a strong start to life with the League Two outfit having joined in January on a temporary basis.

Gotts began the campaign a division above with Lincoln City but after making just four starts in League One was recalled by Leeds and sent across the Pennines for more competitive action.

The Whites academy product has made a swift impact under Wellens since the switch in clubs, scoring twice in four games for The Ammies.

Gotts was handed his debut for the Elland Road outfit a little over a year ago at Arsenal in the FA Cup and was a regular in Marcelo Bielsa's match day squad throughout the Championship promotion-winning campaign.

Leeds, though, opted to send him out this term in a bid to aid his development as the Whites began life in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

Wellens - who saw his side defeat table-topping Cambridge United 4-1 on Tuesday night at the Peninsula stadium - praised the on-loan man for his quick adjustment into his squad.

“On the press he is excellent, a typical (Marcelo) Bielsa player," Wellens told the Evening Express.

"His passing is good, he’s scored two in three for us and could have had more. He is a really good, infectious lad who the group has taken to straight away.

“We are going to improve him for free, that’s why Leeds have loaned him to us. We think he has a real chance to go all the way.”
