Leeds were leggy at Elland Road but still managed to get the job done as promotion rivals Leicester City and Ipswich Town also won on Tuesday night. Another clean sheet and three points means it is 31 points from the last 33 available and nine shut-outs since the turn of the year as Leeds' impressive late-season form continues.
Here are the ratings after Dan James' first-half strike made all the difference.
13. Joel Piroe - 7/10
Some nice passes, some not so nice attempts to retain possession. Should have had an assist when he sent James through.
14. Willy Gnonto - 7/10
Looked desperate to get at Stoke on the counter and made some great runs that weren't found. A couple of nice touches.
15. Junior Firpo - N/A
Came on for the final stages to help see it out.
16. Archie Gray - N/A
Got stuck straight in and up to the pace of the game. Big challenge on the touchline delighted the crowd.
17. Referee: Oliver Langford - 5/10
Missed a pretty clear penalty for Leeds in the first half. Didn't offer a huge amount of protection to the flair players on the pitch. Got Pearson right, at least.
