The Leeds United striker had a strike disallowed against the Eagles after he signalled where he wanted the pass to be played, leading to his arm being offside.

One of the new VAR rules states the offside line should now be drawn from the top of the shirt sleeve. However, Bamford’s feet, head and torso were clearly positioned behind the line.

“I think we’ve actually got something pretty good. Because the nonsense of the early days of VAR when they were all over the place with the decision making has gone,” Neville said on his podcast.

“But it’s actually a couple of rule changes – like the Bamford handball where they are drawing the line down the arm, we don’t want to see it. Let’s get rid of it because the game doesn’t want to see it.”
