Jesse Marsch’s side are suddenly heading to the Black Country seeking a third win on the spin following consecutive Premier League victories as Saturday’s remarkable 4-3 success at home to Bournemouth followed the previous weekend’s superb 2-1 triumph at Liverpool. But Leeds are back in league action less than three days after the Wolves cup clash with a Saturday afternoon trip to Tottenham Hotspur and Marsch made nine changes for the second round Carabao Cup clash at home to Barnsley back at the end of August in which United bagged a 3-1 victory. With Saturday’s Spurs clash looming large but also a place in the Carabao Cup last 16 up for grabs, this is how we think Leeds will line up at Molineux in Wednesday night’s 7.45pm kick-off.
7. CM - Sam Greenwood
It's hard to know what Greenwood's best position is but there can be absolutely no doubt about the impact that he made as a second-half substitute in Saturday's win against Bournemouth in which his tremendous strike ignited the winning comeback. Greenwood replaced Roca against the Cherries to partner Adams in midfield but it might be that he and Roca now start together against Wolves. Youngster Darko Gyabi is another live option but probably more likely to be on the bench. Photo: George Wood
8. RW - Jack Harrison
Harrison failed to fire against Bournemouth and was hooked at the break as the very exciting Willy Gnonto was introduced as a winger on the opposite side of the pitch to rapidly rising star Crysencio Summerville. With Luis Sinisterra injured, Marsch is not stacked with wing options and Harrison might well start and be given a chance to shine ahead of the trip to Spurs. Photo: George Wood
9. LW - Willy Gnonto
Here we go then with the very exciting 19-year-old Italian international Gnonto surely set to make his full debut at Wolves having excelled off the bench against both Liverpool and Bournemouth. It remains to be seen what his best position is but lining up on the left might be the starting point at Molineux with the option to shift inside as a no 10 or even go upfront as the game progresses. Leeds look to have a real gem on their hands and it would be no surprise to see Gnonto cause Wolves chaos. Starting Summerville is clearly another option but he might be saved for Spurs given the level of his form at present. Photo: Marc Atkins
10. ACM - Mateusz Klich
What a servant Klich has been and continues to be for the Whites, getting on with matters and still being as dependable as ever in a new role from the bench of late. Wednesday's cup tie looks a ripe opportunity for another start for the Pole and possibly in the no 10 role although Klich and Greenwood could always swap. Joe Gelhardt is the other obvious option to start at 10 but he may well line up as the focal point of the attack. Photo: Michael Regan
11. ST - Joe Gelhardt
It's not really happened for the exciting Gelhardt so far this term compared to the heights reached at the end of last season but decent opportunities have been limited and perhaps that will change at Molineux, especially with Patrick Bamford injured. Rodrigo is the obvious first port of call upfront but there are other younger options such as Mateo Joseph and Sonny Perkins also waiting for their first chances and places on the bench look likely for them but either way Gelhardt looks destined to start either upfront or as a 10.
