The Robins already have one Whites youngster on loan until the end of the season in 20-year-old winger Jordan Stevens who has already bagged himself a goal and an assist from two league starts.

The League One outfit were reportedly also hoping to loan United's Polish youth international Mateusz Bogusz before he headed for a season-long loan with second tier Spanish side UD Logrones but Wright now hopes his side can recruit Gotts.

Wright, who spent four years with Leeds between 1982 and 1986, told the Swindon Advertiser: “I’ve watched Robbie quite a lot for Leeds – I know Leeds well having been there as a player.

“He’s a good young player. You can see me smiling as I say that. I’m not saying it’s definite, but there is a bit of interest there from our point of view.

“But I think there is quite a bit of interest from plenty of other clubs too in Robbie.”
