Marcelo Bielsa's table-topping Whites saw their cushion in the Championship's automatic promotion spots cut to six points after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Luton Town last mid-week but United bounced back in style with Saturday's 3-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers.
At the same time, third-placed Brentford kept up their relentless pursuit of front-runners Leeds and second-placed West Brom with a 3-0 cruise at home to Wigan Athletic thanks to a Said Benrahma hat-trick.

Brentford have now won five games in a row without conceding a goal but Warnock fully expects Leeds to seal automatic promotion and believes if Brentford make the top two then West Brom will be the side they need to overhaul.
“I thought Leeds were superb against Blackburn," said Warnock, speaking on Sky Sports' The Football Show.
“The Kalvin Phillips free-kick was absolutely brilliant. That’s believing in what you’re doing.

Assessing Brentford's prospects of finishing in the top two, Warnock said: "If they’re going to close in on anyone I think it will be West Brom because of the games the two teams have left.
“Leeds and Brentford have very similar fixtures, they’re playing teams around the bottom.
"The one tricky game they have which they both have to play is Derby.
"Apart from that, they have very winnable games.”
