Former Leeds United captain Dominic Matteo hails incredible hospital staff for saving his life

FORMER Leeds United defender Dominic Matteo has been given a clean bill of health after having life-saving surgery on a brain tumour.

Matteo fell seriously unwell in November with the former centre-back then having an operation on a brain tumour.

But nearly six months later, the 45-year-old has been given the all clear with the former Whites star posting the fantastic news about his health on Thursday lunch-time on social media.

"Yesterday I got THE phone call, the one I’ve been praying for," said Matteo on his Twitter page.

"My brain scan is clear.

"After six months of fear, pain, rehab, surgery and treatment, I’m healthy!

"It feels unreal! The LGI & St James hospital saved my life.

"They were simply incredible. Thankyou will never be enough!"
