Leeds United slumped to a 4-1 defeat in the capital, but could have put themselves on level terms with the Eagles early on had the 27-year-old’s strike not been chalked off.

Scott Dann initially put the hosts ahead, and Eberechi Eze doubled their lead with a sublime free-kick shortly after Bamford was denied his equaliser.

The goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check, despite the fact that the only part of the forward’s body beyond the last defender at the time of the ball being played was his arm as he pointed into the space where he wanted the pass delivering.

And Cascarino was left fuming by the call.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Make a decision that is quite obvious. You don’t have to make it complicated and start going T-shirts and armpits, finger and toes. Just make it very simple.

“Clearly he is onside. It’s a goal. I don’t see how someone pointing in a direction makes the goal disallowed.

“I find football being ridiculed on a regular basis by laws. To me it’s ludicrous. I don’t have an explanation for half of it

“I talked about penalties last week; I just found it ridiculous how referees and officials can’t see when forwards are instigating fouls to get the rewards of a penalty.

“This week I see an offside, well, I say an offside, it’s not an offside.”
