Coyle, who sees his current loan deal expire in the first week of January, has been a crucial part of the Cod Army's campaign so far having impressed during his second spell with the club.

The 23-year-old missed last week's defeat to Luton Town with a rib injury but is expected to feature against Burton Albion this weekend.

Barton though says the future of the Whites loanee beyond next month at Fleetwood is out of his hands, telling the Blackpool Gazette: "You are better speaking with [Marcelo] Bielsa and Lewie [Coyle] about that because that is stuff that is out of my control.

"For us he has been first class; he trains properly, he is willing to learn, open all ears and is keen on developing as a player.

"For me he is a pleasure to work with, someone who you would love at your football club.

"If that is with Leeds then great, they have got a good player.

"If not then we are more than happy to have him here because he has been top class."
