Leeds United enter the FA Cup with their first game in January.

Leeds United will host League Two Harrogate Town in the FA Cup third round.

The iconic draw took place on Monday evening, with Leeds, their Championship rivals and all 20 Premier League teams entering the competition at this stage. Daniel Farke’s side were ball No.18 and after waiting patiently, were drawn as the home side.

Their third-round visitors are Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town, a regular pre-season opponent. The Sulphurites sit 17th in League Two and will travel to Elland Road.

That clash, plus all other third-round fixtures, will take place over the weekend of January 10/11, falling between the Championship meetings with Hull City on Saturday, January 4 and Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, January 19. And the game will be decided on the day, with replays scrapped in favour of extra-time and penalties should it end level at 90 minutes.

Leeds have enjoyed some memorable FA Cup third-round moments, the most recent of which saw Patrick Bamford score a wondergoal during his side’s 3-0 win at Peterborough United in January of this year. The 31-year-old’s in-the-swivel volley was inexplicably left out of the Puskas Award shortlist recently but will live long in the memory of those who saw it live.

Defeat followed in the fourth-round clash at Chelsea but a brilliant performance saw Leeds push the Stamford Bridge club close in a 3-2 thriller. Mateo Joseph scored twice for Daniel Farke’s side while Archie Gray put in an outstanding performance against a midfield worth well over £150million.

Another third-round memory that springs to mind in LS11 is almost 15 years old now, with then-League One Leeds going to Old Trafford and beating serial Premier League champions Manchester United 1-0. Jermaine Beckford’s tight finish wrote him into Elland Road folklore on an incredible day for Whites fans. Leeds will hope to make more of those memories this season.
