Everton dealt Jordan Pickford blow with key midfielder ruled out but familiar face is passed fit for Leeds United clash

Everton have been dealt a blow ahead of their trip to face Leeds United with number one goalkeeper Jordan Pickford set to miss the clash.

The England international has been ruled out of the Premier League meeting at Elland Road on Wednesday night (19:30) due to a hip injury picked up against Newcastle United last weekend.

Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that he will be missing influential midfielder Allan (hamstring).

Long-term absentee Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles) is also still sidelined but is said to be nearing a return after being absent since last summer.

Former Whites academy product Fabian Delph has been passed fit to return to the Everton squad while the game is expected to come too soon for Goodison Park deadline day signing Josh King.

The 29-year-old joined Everton from Championship outfit Bournemouth on Monday and is set to provide Ancelotti with more competition in the forward area.

“[Fabian] Delph is back, Allan not yet, [Jean-Philippe] Gbamin not yet and we also have [Jordan] Pickford out with a side injury," Ancelotti told reporters.

"He will not be available for the game but I hope for Saturday he will be available. He picked it up against Newcastle. He touched the post and had a clash. Robin Oleson [second choice goalkeeper] will start the game."

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa meanwhile has a couple of injury concerns in his senior squad ahead of the midweek game.

Club record signing Rodrigo limped off in the win at Leicester City on Sunday and is expected to be missing after undergoing scans on a groin issue.

Bielsa, though, remained hopeful over winger Raphinha - who left the field of play with a knock late on at the King Power stadium - and striker Patrick Bamford after he revealed he had suffered a dead leg against the Foxes.
