Europa League manager makes contract plea over 'outstanding' reported Leeds target

The Finland international put in an impressive display for the Gers during their 2-0 Europa League win over Lech Poznan on Thursday evening – a result that allowed them to top their group ahead of Portuguese giants Benfica.

Leeds have previously been linked with a multi-million pound swoop for the 25-year-old, with the Scottish Sun naming them alongside Everton and Italian giants Juventus as one of the clubs who have been keeping tabs on the midfielder.

But Gerrard has made it clear that he wishes to ward off interest from elsewhere by securing Kamara’s future at Ibrox.

Speaking in the aftermath of his side’s victory in Poland, he said: “I thought Glen Kamara again showed why everybody is talking about him and there's a lot of fuss about him.

“I thought he was outstanding from start to finish and my advice to the club is to move that situation along as quickly as they can.”

Kamara’s current deal in Glasgow expires in 2023.

The former Arsenal youth prospect signed for the Gers from fellow Scottish side Dundee for a nominal fee of £50,000 in January of last year.

Since then, he has gone on to make 77 appearances for the Light Blues in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting three more.

Kamara is also a mainstay on the international scene, featuring 27 times at senior level for Finland.
