Euro 2020: Team news for England v Germany clash as one Leeds United man starts and another is on the bench
England boss Gareth Southgate has once again put his trust in Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips for tonight's Euro 2020 game against Germany.
The 25-year-old has played every minute of the major tournament so far for the Three Lions but tonight's last 16 game is expected to be his and England s toughest test to date.
He becomes only the third Leeds player to start a knockout game at a European Championships and the first Whites man to do so for England since the late Norman Hunter in 1968.
Phillips will once again partner West Ham United's Declan Rice in the midfield for England.
Bukayo Saka has retained his place after his performance in the final group game against Czech Republic, while Mason Mount returns to the squad after his and Ben Chilwell's period of isolation. There is no place in the squad for Chilwell, along with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and former Whites loanee Ben White.
For Germany, Leeds centre-half Robin Koch is on the bench.
