It is not clear whether it was the free-flowing courageous football under Marcelo Bielsa that won the heart of the singer/songwriter, or husband Jopling's Yorkshire links.

Of course, it could be because Goulding performed gigs with the LiveNow entertainment group, which is also connected to Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

The pair tied the knot at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire back in 2019, with a beautiful ceremony at York Minster followed by a reception at historic venue, as this gallery of photos shows.

Goulding is worth £16million after a string of high profile Top 40 albums and hits while husband Jopling is an art dealer who works at Sotheby's and lives in New York, but originally hails from Yorkshire.

The 28-year-old - who Ellie has been dating since 2017 - is from an aristocratic Yorkshire family, who live at Frickley Hall, near Doncaster and is the son of landowners from the region.

His father is the Honourable Nicholas Jopling, who comes from a family of farmers in the Thirsk area and his grandfather is the former MP Michael Jopling, who served as Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.

Of course, Ellie Goulding isn't the first superstar to back Bielsa's men. Other high profile fans include the Kaiser Chiefs, The Pigeon Detectives, Chris Edwards from Kasabian and even Jon Bon Jovi.

Last year, Bon Jovi sent Leeds United striker Bamford a special motivational message live on radio.

The Livin' on a Prayer singer - who was a guest on talkSPORT - was made aware of the United striker's fondness for his music and gave him a pep talk live on air in a bid to see him end a five-game run without a goal.

“He gets motivated listening to Bon Jovi before a game – what could be better than that?," Bon Jovi laughed.

“Patrick – I’m holding your next game cheque! You score, you get it… you don’t score, you don’t get it.

“How’s that for motivation!”

Bamford took to social media to respond, simply saying: "Nice one JBJ, absolute legend #alaw"

An Oscar-winning actor famed for his role in Gladiator, Russell Crowe is an obvious pick as one of Leeds United's most famous fans. Of course, Crowe narrated the fly-on-the-wall Amazon Prime documentary 'Take Us Home' detailing the Whites' 2018/19 season.

Other prime celeb fans include Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films and is also known for playing Jamie Bradley in The Syndicate and Corporal Gordon House in the BBC Three comedy-drama Bluestone 42. Lewis was born in Leeds and raised in the nearby town of Horsforth, growing up a fan of the Whites.
