Leeds United youngster close to a joining former Whites manager in season-long loan move
The 20-year-old is due at Fleetwood Town today for a medical and is expected to become part of ex Whites boss Simon Grayson s squad for the duration of the 2021/22 season.
It will be his second season plying his trade away from his parent club, having spent the previous campaign with Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen initially and Northampton Town for the second half of the season.
His time in Scotland brought 14 league appearances, but only three starts, the first of which saw him score twice and set one up in a win over Hamilton Academical. He also made his European debut as a late substitute in the Dons' 1-0 defeat by Sporting.
The switch to struggling Northampton in January gave him much more game time, with 13 starts and eight substitute appearances in League One, yet only one goal. It was a difficult season for the Cobblers, manager Keith Curle getting the sack a month after Edmondson arrived. Jon Brady stepped up from the youth team to take charge as caretaker and despite improved performances, the five wins from his 20 games in control were not enough to stave off relegation.
Fleetwood finished 15th in the same division last term and also went through a mid-season managerial change. Joey Barton departed Highbury Stadium in January with the Cod Army sitting 10th, to be replaced by Grayson.
Edmonson joined Leeds from York City in November 2017 and made his Championship debut at the end of that season at the age of 16. He played once more for the first team, in November 2018, and was unable to break into Marcelo Bielsa's plans despite a prolific record for the Under 23s, who he fired to the 2018/19 Professional Development League title.
He penned a new three-year deal at Elland Road early last season.
