Diego Llorente states Leeds United intent and reflects on unrewarded efforts against Aston Villa
DIEGO Llorente says Leeds United's efforts against Aston Villa were not rewarded but that focus now falls on targeting further improvement within the Whites.
Spanish international defender Llorente has endured continued injury problems since signing for the Whites in the summer but has now come though two full games in succession for the first time since joining from Real Sociedad for £18m.
The fit again 27-year-old put in a solid display alongside captain Liam Cooper at the heart of the Whites defence in Saturday evening's Premier League hosting of Villa but Leeds fell to a defeat after Anwar El Ghazi scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute.
Llorente then took to his social media pages on Sunday to post his feelings about the contest and aims moving forward now that the Whites have nine days without a game.
Eleventh-placed Leeds are back in action next Monday night away at West Ham United who are riding high in fourth.
"Sad for the result," said Llorente.
"Great effort from the team that worked until the end but was not rewarded.
"It's time to keep working and keep improving."
