Diego Llorente has sent a message to Leeds United supporters following his latest Elland Road injury setback.

The 27-year-old defender - who joined the club from La Liga outfit Real Sociedad in the summer - was handed his Whites' senior debut in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in tricky circumstances.

Fellow centre-back Robin Koch limped off during the opening stages of the Premier League clash in the capital, and has undergone surgery in London on a knee problem which is set to sideline him for up to three months.

Llorente himself came back from a groin injury to step off the bench in the German's place against the Blues but appeared to pull up when tracking back in added time to try and prevent Christian Pulisic scoring the hosts' third and final goal.

United head coach Marcelo Bielsa confirmed ahead of his side's encounter with West Ham on Friday night that his squad had been dealt a further defensive blow with the Spain international set for at least another two weeks out with a muscular problem.

Llorente sent a message to Whites fans this evening, vowing to work as hard as he can to return.

"My debut finally came after so much time waiting to play my first game," Llorente wrote on his personal Twitter account.

"Unfortunately, the result wasn't good and I'll have to stop due to some aches. I'll work, work and work to get well as soon as possible and get back stronger! #MOT"
