Leeds sealed promotion on Friday night before the Championship title on Saturday without even playing and the Premier League-bound Whites were given a guard of honour prior to kick-off led by Rams captain and former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa made seven changes to his side and despite United creating several chances in the first half, Chris Martin's deflected strike gave Derby a 54th-minute lead.

But captain for the day Pablo Hernandez equalised just two minutes later before Shackleton produced a brilliant finish following a Tyler Roberts through ball with 15 minutes left and United then netted their third with six minutes left through an own goal from Matthew Clarke following Gjanni Alioski's cross.

Leeds began brightly and Tyler Roberts fired in two efforts in the opening stages with the first sailing over and the second saved by Kelle Roos following a through ball from the lively Ian Poveda on his full Whites debut.

After Derby lost Tom Lawrence to injury in the seventh minute, United's captain for the day Pablo Hernandez then fired just over from the edge of the box.

United looked in the mood and Shackleton saw a shot blocked before a curling effort from Barry Douglas was saved.

Hernandez then had a pop from the half-way line which Roos saved before Shackleton fed Roberts who again fired over.

Derby were offering very little with their first real attempt coming in the 22nd minute when Louie Sibley lashed over from range.

But Leeds were then dealt a blow just before the half hour mark when Gaetano Berardi landed awkwardly and had to be stretchered off with Luke Ayling coming on in his place.

Ayling survived an early scare as his clearance off his shoulder sailed over the bar and from the corner Craig Forsyth headed wide.

A Wayne Rooney free-kick then needed clearing and after Leeds efforts from Stuart Dallas and Pascal Striujk were dealt with from a corner, a decent attempt from Derby's Jason Knight was deflected wide.

After Sibley was booked for clattering Hernandez, Poveda thought he had scored his first goal for Leeds only to be correctly flagged offside and Derby's Martyn Waghorn then saw an effort from a tight angle saved by Kiko Casilla at the other end.

As part of nine minutes of stoppage time, Roberts fired another effort wide before Roos proved equal to a firm shot from Struijk.

Derby began the second half on the front foot but United squandered a decent chance on the break as Hernandez played in Roberts who appeared offside but play went on and the forward was foiled by an alert Roos at the edge of his box.

But the Rams were looking the more likely and after United failed to clear from trouble in their area, Chris Martin swept home to put Derby ahead in the 54th minute with a shot that took a deflection off Luke Ayling before beating Casilla.

Yet just two minutes later United were level with Poveda teeing up Hernandez who saw a first attempt from the edge of the box blocked but the Spaniard seized upon the rebound which was neatly converted into the bottom right corner.

From a Hernandez free-kick, Roberts then sent a flick over the bar but United twent ahead in the 75th minute when a fine pass from Roberts played in Jamie Shackleton who produced a beautiful finish to fire past Roos.

A slip from Ayling then let in Knight but Casilla produced a smart save to keep the Whites in front and Derby then conceded for the third time with six minutes left when Rams defender Clarke bundled the ball past Roos under pressure from Patrick Bamford from an Alioski cross.

Derby immediately squandered a chance to pull a goal back when Jack Marriott fired over after Hernandez had lost the ball but United were quickly back on top in search of a fourth as they cruised to three more points to take them to 90 at the top of the tree.
