Leeds United’s Under-21 side can secure qualification to the knockout round of this season’s Papa John’s Trophy this evening

Leeds’ youngsters are on the cusp of making it through to the knockout stage of the EFL Trophy for the first time as a junior outfit tonight. They face Crewe Alexandra in their final Northern Section Group B fixture knowing victory will guarantee progression.

The young Whites are expected to name a strong XI for the trip to the Alexandra Stadium, featuring several members who travelled – and featured – in the senior team’s stunning 2-1 win over Liverpool last weekend.

Leeds have, thus far, won one and lost one in the Papa John’s Trophy this season, beating Tranmere Rovers 5-3 at Prenton Park, before falling to a 3-0 defeat against an experienced Bolton Wanderers side.
