Championship promotion hopefuls report coronavirus case as Leeds United count down days to restart

BRISTOL CITY have confirmed that one member of their group has tested positive for coronavirus just four days before the Championship's restart.

A statement released by the Robins on Tuesday afternoon read: "After last Thursday’s league-wide testing for COVID-19 completed by Bristol City players and staff at the club’s training facility, we can confirm that one member of the testing group tested positive for coronavirus.

"The individual, who we are not naming due to medical confidentiality, is asymptomatic and is now self-isolating in line with league and government guidance.

"There has been a subsequent scheduled round of testing for the rest of the group with all results negative.

"The club will be making no further comment at this time."

Lee Johnson's side sit seventh in the table and 16 points behind front-runners Leeds United but only one point off the play-offs.

Bristol City's first game back after what will have been a 15-week break in play due to the country's battle against COVID-19 is a 3pm kick-off on Saturday at Blackburn Rovers.

Leeds will resume their promotion push with Sunday's 12 noon kick-off at Cardiff City, a game live on Sky Sports.
