Bristol City 0-1 Leeds United highlights: Gnonto winner moves Leeds into top two

Leeds United return to Championship action tonight, kicking off this weekend's fixture list with a Friday evening encounter in the south west versus Liam Manning's Bristol City.

Daniel Farke welcomed his one and only January addition to the club on deadline day as Wales international Connor Roberts signed on loan until the end of the season. The 28-year-old was not registered in time to feature this evening, however, and will be made to wait until next Saturday to make his United debut.

Nevertheless, the Leeds boss welcomes Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville back into his matchday squad after the pair sat out the 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle six days ago. Aside from existing injuries to Pascal Struijk, Dan James and Stuart Dallas, Leeds are collectively in good health which should allow Farke to name as strong an XI as possible at Ashton Gate.

United have already beaten the Robins this season, defeating what was then Nigel Pearson's side 2-1 at Elland Road in October. That game marked the beginning of Gray's stint at right-back and the 17-year-old has hardly looked back since, seeing off the likes of Luke Ayling and Djed Spence for first-choice backing from Farke in that position. Another victory over tonight's opponents will move the Whites into the automatic promotion places for the first time this season.

HT: Bristol City 0-0 Leeds United

Leeds are in a game here. Few chances of real quality for the hosts but pressing well off-the-ball and organised. United had their opportunities but haven't taken them. Georginio penalty shout a key talking point.

Lucky that wasn't an inch inside the area

45+1' Firpo fouls right on the edge of Leeds' box. Had been beaten. Two added minutes.

37' Springy feet from Summerville & Georginio in next to no space, they find Bamford who lays off for Rutter to run onto but he's brought down in box. Referee miles away, doesn't take issue with it. Looked a penalty, don't have replay screens in press box.

Great feet all round

34' SAVE! O'Leary makes a great stop with his legs to deny Rutter. Bamford runs the channel down the right, rides Vyner's sliding challenge and squares it. Pops up nicely for Georginio who doesn't get the finish right. Good save, too, mind.

Needs to be quicker

32' Summerville wins a corner with a trademark out-to-in run at speed. Interplay in the final third not quite quick enough in the opening half hour. Corner swung right into the grateful grasp of O'Leary.

25' Georginio takes the ball down from a long punt forward. Ends up facing his own goal as it bounces and O'Leary steams through the back of him. Gets some ball, some man but play carries on. No spot kick says referee Stephen Martin.

23' Rutter home free down the right, chased all the way by Dickie but the Leeds attacker has the legs on him. Decides to cut it back into the middle despite having the opportunity to shoot. Robins regroup and Leeds forced to rebuild.
