Brighton under-23s 1 Leeds United under-23s 0 recap

Key Events

  • 2pm kick-off at Brighton’s training ground

2: From Hjelde to Miller but Brighton survive. Miller is on the right flank. Bate is quite advanced, the no 10 almost. Jenkins and Kenneh in front of the back four. Hjelde and Cresswell the centre backs, Sutcliffe right back, McCarron left back.

4: No chances but plenty of pressing

6: Joseph curler from the edge of the box easily saved from a McCarrron break. Cresswell got away with a late one beforehand, judged to have just about got the ball. Held his hand up but no free kick, Joseph then clattered but again no foul

8: Twice by Joseph up tops, has good strength, Bate sees a shot blocked. Still very early days for Joseph but he looks decent

10: McKinstry cross from the left flashes through the box, Jenkins gets to it a few yards out but puts his attempt just wide, should be 1-0. Fine pressing by Leeds to win the ball down the left.

Leeds basically on top

14: Brighton struggling to get out, very intense pressing by Leeds

15: Won by Joseph, Leeds get numbers back beforehand to snuff out a Brighton counter

15; Free kick for a foul in the area

17: A rapid break leads to a scramble in the box but Leeds clear through Cresswell eventually, claims for a Brighton penalty waved away
