Bookies' new predicted final Championship table after Leeds United triumph v Sheffield United but big Burnley boost and Sunderland chance

Leeds United ended the Championship’s last remaining unbeaten record with victory against Sheffield United – and the bookmakers have delivered a fresh verdict on the predicted final table.

Sheffield United arrived for Friday night’s Yorkshire derby having won five of their last six - all of which had yielded clean sheets - but goals from Pascal Struijk and Mateo Joseph subjected the visitors to a 2-0 defeat. Leeds began the weekend in sixth place and three points off the division’s automatic promotion places but victory moved them second and level on points with both leaders Sunderland and third-placed Sheffield United before the weekend’s remaining games.

West Brom were then set to move top when leading by a single goal in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Oxford United. The Baggies, though, suffered the late blow of conceding a stoppage time equaliser which gave Oxford a 1-1 draw and kept West Brom one point below Leeds in fifth place.

Daniel Farke’s Whites stayed second but the perfect weekend party was then spoiled somewhat by Burnley who themselves moved top with a 2-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday in one of the day’s 3pm kick-offs. Burnley are now two points clear at the division’s summit but having played a game more than second-placed Sunderland who visit Hull City on Sunday afternoon in the day’s sole Championship fixture.

Leeds, in third, and fourth-placed Sunderland are level on points with Sunderland, the three sides all one point ahead of both fifth-placed West Brom and sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers The weekend’s results have led to changes in the Championship betting market and this is how the bookmakers now envisage the final table looking based on the very latest odds.
