Leeds approached their midweek assignment at Norwich sat fifth in the Championship table and a point proved enough for Daniel Farke’s side to climb one place up the table into fourth. There were, though, bigger boosts for key promotion rivals Burnley, Middlesbrough and new leaders Sunderland who all bagged three-point hauls.
Ahead of Friday night’s quick return to action at Sunderland, Leeds are now three points behind the table-topping Black Cats and two points adrift of second-placed Burnley in the division’s second automatic promotion place. The Whites are one point behind third-placed West Brom who suffered a 1-0 reverse at home to Middlesbrough who are hot on Leeds’ heels in being one point behind them in sixth place.
Leeds are level on points with fifth-placed Blackburn Rovers who slipped a place after defeat at Coventry City but both teams could be overtaken by both seventh-placed Sheffield United and eighth-placed Watford who take in their games in hand on Wednesday night.
