These are the players we've picked and the impact they had on Leeds United and football as a whole:
7. Rio Ferdinand
Before the summer signing of Rodrigo for £27m this year, Rio Ferdinand was Leeds United’s most expensive transfer, joining the Whites from West Ham in November 2000 for a British record-breaking £18m fee, becoming the world's most expensive defender. He played a key role in Leeds United reaching the Champions League semi-final in 2001. He would eventually join rivals Manchester United on a five-year deal in July 2002 for £30m, becoming the most expensive British footballer in history at the time.
8. Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank
Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank joined Leeds from Portuguese side Boavista in the summer of 1997, and would go on to make a total of 87 appearances for the Whites, scoring 42 goals, an average of a goal every two games. He then departed for Spain in 1999, signing for Atletico Madrid.
9. El-Hadji Diouf
El-Hadji Diouf arrived at Leeds in 2012 with an impressive CV, being named African footballer of the year twice and excelling for Senegal as they reached the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002. However, Diouf struggled to impress in the Premier League after he moved from France to Liverpool. He later had spells with Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers before joining Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers in 2011. Despite promising to become club legend at Leeds, Diouf only played one full season at Elland Road, making just 52 appearances, scoring seven goals.
10. Gerry Francis
The first ever black player to play for Leeds United was Gerry Francis, a shoe repairer who came to England from South Africa in 1957 in the hope of achieving football fame. Leeds trialled him as an amateur and eventually signed him as a professional in July 1957. Francis made his debut against Birmingham city at Elland Road on November 30 1957, and would go on to make 52 appearances, scoring nine goals, before moving to York City in 1961.
