White had done everything so well, all season, on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, but until Charlton Athletic arrived at Elland Road on the final day he hadn't found the net.

But when the ball dropped to him on the edge of the area, he controlled it on his chest and lashed it into the back of the net with perfect technique, ending his goal drought and leaving Luke Ayling in fits of bemused laughter.

That goal helped Leeds win 4-0 before they lifted the Championship trophy and gave White the perfect finale to his glorious campaign with the Whites.

White, who picked up the club's Young Player of the Year award and was voted Yorkshire Evening Post Player of the Year, is now up for Skybet Championship Goal of the Month.

He's up against Cardiff City's Will Vaulks, whose impudent lob left Blackburn Rovers keeper Christian Walton stranded in their game on July 7, a game that also yielded the third shortlisted goal - Adam Armstrong's 40-yarder for Rovers that dipped in just under the crossbar.

Voting opened this morning on Skysports.com and closes tomorrow with the winner announced on Friday August 7.
