Bielsa took the Whites head coach role in June 2018 by signing a two-year deal with the club maintaining the right to extend or terminate the deal at the end of year one.

After United's heartbreak of defeat to Derby County in the play-offs semi-finals of May 2019, Bielsa then met with United’s board of directors to express his intention to continue.

Leeds then announced that chairman Andrea Radrizzani had officially exercised the option to extend Bielsa’s contract for a second season and Bielsa has now taken the Whites to the Premier League as Championship champions.

United discovered on Thursday morning that they would start the new Premier League campaign with a trip to newly-crowned champions Liverpool over the weekend of September 12 and Kinnear foresees no problems in Bielsa signing a new deal.

"He is very, very close," said Kinnear, asked when Bielsa would sign his new deal by Sky Sports.

"The challenge with Marcelo as we had last season is he is totally fixated on the preparations for the season ahead.

"He's in the training ground every day, he is working with the team, he's doing his analytics and I just need to find the appropriate window to get the paper in front of him and for him to sign it but we don't foresee any challenges."
