Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has described Leeds United as "incredible" following the two sides Premier League clash last weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa's outfit were beaten 4-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, their second successive defeat by the same scoreline in league action.

United, though, have made a solid start to the top flight campaign after promotion from the Championship last term, picking up 10 points from their opening eight games in their new surrounds.

Leeds have impressed onlookers for their high tempo and attacking style of play with boss Bielsa earning praise for his no fear assault on the division.

One admirer has come in the form of a Palace wide man and former Elland Road loanee, who despite being on the right end of the scoreline in the capital was suitably impressed with the Whites.

“Everyone’s been fascinated by Leeds and Bielsa this season," Townsend told talkSPORT.

“We had the luxury of watching Leicester [play Leeds] the week before. Hats off to Roy Hodgson, they had us set up perfectly to counter Leeds.

“When you watch on TV you don’t get the full view of the way they play. They’re incredible, very special. It was great to experience it live in the flesh.”

Leeds were well beaten in south London, but controversy reigned as United striker Patrick Bamford saw a levelling goal chalked off by VAR in the first half before Palace stamped their authority on the fixture.

“I sympathise with him [Bamford]," Townsend said over the incident.

"I’m not VAR’s biggest fan but if you’re going to use VAR, you’ve got to use it. If the t-shirt line is the limit, it’s offside.

"I’m not just saying it because it’s Crystal Palace, it’s either offside or it’s not.”
