Marcelo Bielsa has given his full backing to Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier after a difficult afternoon against Arsenal.

The Whites travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening in the Premier League looking to bounce back to winning ways in the top flight.

Leeds were beaten by the Gunners 4-2 last weekend at the Emirates with stopper Meslier criticised for his role in three of the four goals conceded in the capital.

The young Frenchman - who has seven clean sheets to his name this term - has impressed between the posts at Elland Road amid his first full campaign as the club's number one shot stopper.

Bielsa has given his backing to the 20-year-old ahead of the clash against Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit and believes he will brush off the mistakes on display in North London.

The Argentine cited Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in his defence of his goalkeeper, with the Anfield boss publicly defending Reds first choice Alisson after he came under fire recently for a number of high profile errors.

Like his German counterpart, Bielsa has given his full support to the man who patrols United's last line of defence - believing that no goalkeeper is error free.

“There is no goalkeeper that does not make any mistakes," Bielsa insisted.

"And goalkeepers consolidate themselves when they get over mistakes they have made.

"It is normal that they have critics who forget about what you have done in the past and fix themselves on the present.

"A better answer than mine would be the one that the Liverpool manager gave over the same subject."
