A64 Red Bus Cafe owner considering repaint to white to celebrate Leeds United promotion

A huge Leeds United fan recently completed an incredible transformation of the A64 Red Bus Cafe.

The landmark cafe on York Road had been a popular destination to grab a meal on long journeys for commuters to locations including Scarborough.

However, the cafe closed and was put up for auction in late 2019.

Leeds United mad Danny Care said he used to pass the red bus cafe as a child on trips to Scarborough and told the Yorkshire Evening Post he had 'gone past it 1000 times' - but amazingly never been inside.

After spotting the lucrative opportunity to get his hands on the cafe, Danny said he had to give his childhood dream of owning the cafe 'a go'.

Now, Danny has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is considering repainting the famous red bus in a new scheme of blue and white to celebrate the promotion of the team.

He is calling on Yorkshire Evening Post readers to vote and make the decision whether to change the design - and even include a huge Marcelo Bielsa mural on the side of the bus.

Danny said: "The design will have dates related to Leeds United on the bottom on two boxes with a painting of a Leeds scarf running between the two drawings.

"A good friend of mine liked the ideas of changing the red bus cafe colours to commemorate the return to the Premier League.

"I want readers to vote on the design as I am a big Leeds United fan but I have to respect the heritage of the bus.

"It has been in the lay-by for many years and loved by a number of young and old passing on their way to take holidays as a child, as I did.

"We are now just awaiting the results of the vote and reaction before making the decision."

The Cafe has had a range of owners over the years.

In 2008 teenager Vicky Gray, from Seacroft, gave the business a go, and by 2014 it was in the hands of Jo Keighron and her daughters.
