Here, the legendary ex Leeds boss describes the men who were mainstays of his side.
7. Gordon Strachan (35 + 1)
He was an enormous influence in the dressing room, on the pitch and socially. Could tie people in knots, could play wide, could come in, great passer, great vision. He was a captain in every sense of the word.
8. Rod Wallace (34)
He was quick, could beat people, could play central, wide left, wide right. You want low maintenance players who give you consistent high performance and don't need a lot of looking after. That was Rod. He turned up and went on.
9. Lee Chapman (38)
Vastly underrated, skill wise. A very intelligent player. And brave, he would go in where it hurt, put his head in there knowing he might cop one. If you look at his record with me he was a 20-goal a season striker.
10. Gary McAllister (41 + 1)
A very good player with great scope in terms of passing, dribbling, striking, scoring, making chances. He had a good physical presence as well. He played at the very highest level and did it easily. He saw passes others didn't see.
11. Gary Speed (41)
He played every position at Leeds, barring keeper. That says he's versatile but what a great character he is. He'd go play there and give you his best. A very generous person in terms of contribution to the team. One of the best.
12. Steve Hodge (12 + 11)
He got goals. I think he scored on his debut, when he came on. His pedigree, he played in a Forest team for years and to get in that team you'd got to earn it. Very good person to have on the bench, very good.
