Leeds have not scored first in the Championship since Pablo Hernandez bagged the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory at home to Hull City on December 23.

That also marked United’s last win at Elland Road in the league.

But every other team Leeds have faced since in the Championship have scored first apart from Nottingham Forest and Hull City with both of those games ending in goalless draws.

Hosts Burton Albion even scored first the last time United won a game through a 2-1 success at the Pirelli on Boxing Day.

The Whites have now gone eight games without a victory in the league and nine in all competitions when including the 2-1 loss at Newport County in the FA Cup third round.

The Whites have picked up three points from a last possible 24 which puts United bottom of the Championship form table over those number of games, two points behind Reading and Nottingham Forest.

But prior to the 2-1 win at Burton, Leeds had scored first in five games in succession with the Whites opening the scoring in six games out of seven - the exception being in a 4-1 loss at leaders Wolves.

The other six games resulted in five victories and a draw.

No-coincidence that since then Leeds are continuing to find life difficult after continually giving themselves a mountain to climb by conceding first.
