Leeds United: We paid for slow start, reveals Bolton boss Parkinson

Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson says his team paid for a slow start at Elland Road on Friday afternoon as his side fell to a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United.

The Whites opened the scoring after just four minutes as Caleb Ekuban grabbed his first Championship goal of the season, Spanish playmaker Pablo Hernandez added a second following the break before Wanderers striker Adam Le Fondre ensured a nervy finish for United.

Parkinson though lamented his sides slow start to the fixture following the defeat that leaves his team just six points from the relegation places.

"We started slowly," Parkinson told his post-match press conference.

"We always knew coming here today - in front of a big crowd against a team that could've potentially been nervous - we needed to start well.

"At 2-0 down we could've let our heads drop but we didn't. We got the goal back and we had a couple of good chances to get the equaliser.

"We've got to give our lads credit that they kept going but equally we need to analyse the start of the game and what we need to do better.

"We know we've got to get at least three more wins. That's our aim. We've got ourselves in a good position and we're confident we can achieve that."
