Leeds United: Christiansen hints at potential small opportunity for Bouy

THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN has hinted at a potential opportunity for Ouasim Bouy after praising the midfielder's decision to fight for his place at Leeds United rather than head back out on loan.

Former Netherlands under-19s international Buoy joined Leeds on a four-year deal in August before heading to United’s sister club Cultural Leonesa on a season-long loan.

Buoy, though, was given very few opportunities with the Segunda Division side and United cut the 24-year-old’s loan spell short in January after the former Juventus player had made just four appearances for Leonesa with two of those coming in the Copa Del Rey.

Christiansen admitted last month that there would be a possibility that Buoy could head back out on loan to a different club but the midfielder will now stay at Leeds for the rest of the season after impressing his head coach with both his attitude and attributes.

“I took the decision having spoken to him,” said Christiansen.

“He decided to stay to have an opportunity even if it’s a small opportunity.

“I like very much how he trains and he adds to the team which is the most important.

“He has desire and he is good player.

“Perhaps in one situation he will get the opportunity to play. You never know.

“But most important is that you have a player who is not staying here because there is no other possibility.

“He could have had a possibility to go out but it was his will to try to stay and have an opportunity in the team.”
