Heckingbottom though admitted that the youngster had “grasped” his opportunity in goal but revealed he still had plenty of work to do to ensure his place next season reiterating that every spot in his side is up for grabs this summer.

"That's what you've got to play for," conceded Heckingbottom.

"Everyone is playing to be first choice in their position. Bailey's come in and done well. That was an opportunity that was thrown upon him, not one that we had really groomed and been in total control of.

"It was just a necessity from my point of view to do something and make a change. Bailey has grasped it.

"Without going into detail we're always pushing to get better and there's areas we want to work on his game. In terms of his approach to it he has had a right good go."
