Here, the YEP’s chief football writer Phil Hay rates the individual performances of the Leeds players. Have a read and see if you agree. If you do or if you don’t, give us your own thoughts in the comments section below.
Felix Wiedwald: Coasted through the first half and made a good save from Adomah in the second. Lansbury’s finish was pin-point. 6/10

Hide AdLuke Ayling: His passing and decision-making was a distance short of Ayling at his best and he can play much better than this, at both ends of the field. 5
Pontus Jansson: Jansson’s finish was sharper than it looked in real time, coming from such close range, but he lost out in the tackle which led to Villa’s equaliser. 7
Liam Cooper: For all his talent, Keinan Davis never looked like getting into United’s centre-backs and Lansbury broke the resistance with a good finish. 7

Hide AdGaetano Berardi: The subject of criticism recently but stood up well to Snodgrass and kept the Scot’s influence to a minimum. 7
Kalvin Phillips: Found the going easy for 45 minutes and made Hourihane in particular look anonymous. But the steam went out of Leeds’ performance on the hour. 7
Ronaldo Vieira: Snappy and aggressive before the interval and kept the game in Villa’s half. Unable to sustain that level of intensity. 7
Gjanni Alioski: Helped to create the initial momentum and was inches from scoring a second goal. Not perfect but back to a better level now. 6

Hide AdSamuel Saiz: Less impressive than usual but some of the early string-pulling was good. Villa’s fightback denied him the possession he needed. 6
Pablo Hernandez: All over the place, in a positive sense, and set the right rhythm. A shame to lose him at a stage where Leeds were so dominant. 7
Caleb Ekuban: Gave Villa a hard time for 45 minutes and ground out the corner which forced the goal but the pace of the game caught up with him later on. 7
Substitutes
Kemar Roofe (for Hernandez, 42) - Hernandez was a loss, no doubt about it, and Roofe is a different player. Leeds didn’t look so assured. 5

Hide AdHadi Sacko (for Ekuban, 83) - A substitution which might have taken advantage of VIlla pushing forward but Sacko never threatened. 5
Jay-Roy Grot (for Alioski, 90) - On for literally seconds. 5
Subs (not used): Andy Lonergan, Conor Shaughnessy, Matthew Pennington, Vurnon Anita.
Referee: Peter Bankes (Merseyside) - There was some griping from both benches but Leeds-Villa is a difficult game to handle and he did his best to keep it flowing. 6/10
