Leeds Summer League: Webb's hat-trick for leaders Wortley has rivals Farnley in a spin

A first-half hat-trick for Jordan Webb provided the catalyst for West Leeds Wortley's 6-2 drubbing of West Leeds Farnley in the Leeds Sunday Summer Football League, writes ALEX MILLER.

The league leaders were 5-1 up at the break, with goals for Mark Feguson and Jack Compston, but a stronger second half showing saved mid-table Farnley further blushes, for whom Aaron Batley bagged a brace.

Narrowly behind West Leeds Wortley on goal difference, Horsforth Fairweather secured a 6-4 win over basement dwellers Wortley Knights. James Thorp and Dan Hyde both scored doubles for Fairweather, alongside strikes for Tom Wilson and Gary Litvinov.

Third-placed East Leeds enjoyed a 7-2 win over struggling Northern Star, whilst there was nothing to edge apart Bramley Town and West Leeds Armley, who sit fifth and fourth respectively after a 2-2 draw. Shane Collins did the damage for the Armley side in a result that saw Bramley collect their third draw in four matches.

A rousing half-time team talk must have done the trick for West Leeds Bramley, who wrestled their way to a 5-2 win against fellow strugglers Western Juniors. Juniors raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Mike Brown, but a dogged performance from the home side saw them score five thanks to an Andrew Bellhouse hat-trick plus strikes from Danny Lee Hook and Joe Penman.
