Leeds Combination League: Social eyes on pulling clear of the drop spots

Scoring for the second week in succession was Adam Fowler, while Lee Coleman, Brad Sharrocks, Brad White and Callum Woodhouse all chipped in.

One side to have performed well until recently is Leeds City Rovers but, after suffering their first defeat of the season last time out, they were again on the losing side as unbeaten HT Sports thrashed them 7-1.

Elsewhere, Hope Inn Whites moved top with a 4-0 win over Seacroft WMC, but with three points between the top five and with Chapeltown having won four from four, the top Sunday division remains open for the time being.

In the Premier Division, it was a case of Super Sunday as the top four sides met hoping to strengthen their title hopes.

Heading into the weekend, league-leaders Kippax Sundays were four points clear but after falling 3-0 at home to second-placed Chapeltown Fforde Greene Reserves, they are now find themselves looking over their shoulders. Chasing that duo is Swillington Welfare who switched places with Kirsktall Crusaders into third after the same scoreline.

At the other end of the table, FC Broadway won for only the second time this season as Killian Maybe, David Nouma and Mark Adams all netted in the 3-1 win over ninth-placed Hunslet Parnaby. Mid-table duo Colton and East Leeds Celtic played out a 1-1 draw.

Against Division One leaders New Pudsey, East Leeds Celtic were up against it as they chased their first win of the season. And they almost stole a point after Simon Doughty hit a brace, but a straight red for Terry Palmer ultimately played its part as Pudsey kept their 100 per cent record intact with a 4-3 win.

Chapel Allerton are hot on their heels and are yet to lose after sinking fourth-placed Pendas Arms 5-0 as Mark Freeman and Ross McCall each scored twice each.

At the ninth time of asking, Commercial HQ were finally victorious as Michael Hartley and Josh White shared the goals in the narrow 4-3 defeat of Hare & Hounds, whilst Moortown Albion striker Craig Fish tormented the Oulton Athletic defence by scoring four in the 6-3 victory.

Elsewhere in Division One, Tommy Hind’s opener for Beachwood Sundays was cancelled out as Reece Kay scored the equaliser for Halton.

In Division Two, runaway leaders Corpus Christi won for the sixth successive time as Phil Jarvis scored yet another two goals in the 6-0 rout over bottom-side FC West Leeds.

Second-placed South Seacroft ran out 6-3 winners at Acorn Bramley, whilst third and fourth-placed duo West Leeds Armley and Sporting Pudsey locked horns.

In a tight affair it was away side Pudsey that came out on top as Jordy Cliffe and Matt Durrans each scored in the 2-1 win.

Sporting’s rivals Pudsey Athletic were not quite as fortunate, losing 2-0 at home to West Yorkshire Falcons courtesy of goals from Daniel Pinnington and Alex McCaskill, whilst Horsforth Saints were 2-1 winners at Halfway.

In Division 3A, the top two sides met for the first time this season and though you would have expected a tight affair, league-leaders Wortley Knights blew away Republica Internationale with Alin Gerota scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 rout. It was a similar story at the other end of the table as Original Oak travelled to Amaranth Athletic hoping to secure their first point of the season.

However their dismal record remains as they were thumped 5-0.

Elsewhere, there were wins for West Leeds Farnley, Halfway House Bramley and Old Hall Town.

In Division 3B there was an eight-goal thriller between the reserve sides of Millhsaw Park Rangers and Moortown Albion, Scott Carter’s hat-trick for Millshaw proving the difference as his side won 5-3.

Tied at the top on 18 points, Bramley Town Reserves and Woodcock were both victorious over FC Armley and Western Juniors respectively, whilst West Leeds Bramley moved up to fifth with a win over Black Lion.

Elsewhere, Bramley Villagers won 3-1 at home to FC Retailers, Temple fell 2-1 at home to Northern Star and, in the Sanford Cup, Jubilee Premier JB Celtic beat West Leeds Wortley 7-2 as John Mallinson scored his third successive hat-trick.
