Leeds Combination League: Farris Emara hits six of the best for Sporting Pudsey

The prolific striker struck a double hat-trick in his side’s 12-1 demolition job on Western Juniors.

Matthew Durrans was in on the action with a hat-trick of his own whilst goals from Sam Marshall, Daniel Cook and Alex McNichol completed the dozen for Sporting Pudsey.

Tommy Black (2), James Pascoe, Gav Connor and John Hart (2) were all on target for Original Oak in their enthralling 5-5 draw with Rothwell.

However, Original Oak were felled by Rothwell on penalties, losing out 4-2 after a missed spot-kick.

There were no such problems for Headingley Rovers after they held on narrowly to beat Pudsey Athletic 5-4 at home. The visitors looked to have ensured a draw with a brace from James Obank and individual strikes from Rob and Lewis Dent.

Jordan Parkinson had other ideas and his hat-trick was the difference, meaning Headingley can now look forward to seeing their name in the third-round draw. It was a case of ‘eighth heaven’ for Sheepscar and Temple as both teams strolled to 8-0 victories in their ties against Bramley Lions and Bramley Amateurs respectively.

Tom Franklin claimed the match ball for Bardsey in their 4-0 rout of West Yorkshire Falcons, Eddie Clayton completed the scoring.

Commercial HQ and Oulton Athletic shared seven goals in their clash and it was that man again, Phil Negelein, who stole the headlines. His four goals were the difference for Oulton who ran out 4-3 winners whilst Chris Jones (2) and Luke Coates scored for Commercial.

The hegemony in the Jubilee Premier continued this weekend as the division’s top sides proved themselves to be a cut above the rest. Mid-table Main Line Social bagged a brace as his side entertained league leaders Hope Inn Whites, but that was not enough to avoid a 4-2 loss that sees the Whites maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of the table.

Second-placed HT Sports kept the pressure on Hope Inn Whites with a 6-1 win at home over Bramley Town, Steve Palfrey struck four for HT whilst Steve Wales added a double.

Third-placed New Pudsey went one better in their 7-1 trouncing of New Armley, the scorers for the victors were John Mallinson (2), Declan Wilkinson, Rick Simpson, Joe Thorpe, Rob Nicholson and Elden Harrison-Bennett.

The Jubilee Premier’s bottom side Kippax came within a whisker of a point as they were edged out 3-2 at home by Colton.

Mark Owen and Mark Hill had scored for Kippax, but strikes from Mikey O’Brian, Joshua Ridgeway and Chris Parkin ensured all three points would be heading to Colton.

It was a real missed chance for Kippax who remain bottom, two points adrift of Seacroft who were not in league action this weekend.

If Seacroft are to make the most of their game in hand they will have to do something no side has done so far this season by taking points off Hope Inn Whites.

Kippax, Seacroft, New Armley and Bramley Town are all floundering and are seemingly cut off at the bottom of the table.

Premier division leaders Armley extended their lead to three points after East Leeds Celtic were held by Rodley, writes JOHN MCNAMARA.

A Paul Hewson brace and a strike from Luke Rule were not enough to claim a victory for East Leeds as Rodley fought back with goals from Bailey Wright (2) and Jacques Thompson in a 3-3 draw.

Armley had no such problems in their 6-2 rout of struggling Moortown Albion. Bottom side East End Park made a good fist of it in their trip to Horsforth Saints as Terry Tomlinson, Gavin Slade and Andy Lightowler scored in East End’s narrow 4-3 loss.

That result gave Swillington Welfare the chance to pull away from East End Park but they blew that opportunity in spectacular fashion. Hunslet Club were the visitors and sealed a 7-0 win thanks to Robin Williams, Killian Mabey, John Clark, Steven Keeling, Carlton Binks and Louis Linfoot (2).

Kirkstall Crusaders Academy pulled off an upset in Division One when they beat leaders Acorn 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Aaron Chapman and James Burgess.

A pulsating clash between Crown & Anchor and Northern Star ended 4-4. Crown’s four goals came through Adam Pulford, Jake Dallley and Callum Walker (2) while Kieran Dieghan, Kieran Dunn, Stuart Brown and Matty Simon scored for Northern.

In Division Two, Amaranth Crossgates Athletic lost to rock-bottom Sporting Pudsey seconds. Michael Brinn, Kevin Saynor and Jordan Cliffe scored for Sporting to secure their first win of the season.

Athletico Bramley were looking to make it 10 wins out of 10 in Division Three but they fell 1-0 to Republica Internationale who scored through Dan Hickson.

Shane Collins, Adam Clarke and Liam Cooper thought they had done enough to earn New Armley at least a draw in their clash against Armley Reserves, but they wound up 4-3 losers.

The best action in Division Three came in the tie between Elford and New Inn Whites, strikes from Phil Davies (2), Ben Howarth (2), Dalton Pearson (2) and Joshua Goodwin sealed an impressive 7-3 win for the Whites.
