Despite facing one of the teams who are favourites for promotion, Guiseley did a fine job throughout the evening.

York City loanee Emile Sinclair had the first chance of the game for Guiseley, his effort beat the keeper but hit both posts and still stayed out.

Rovers showed their threat when Elliot Frear breezed past the Guiseley defence but the impressive Dan Atkinson made a smart save.

Guiseley looked good in possession and could have opened the scoring just before half-time, when Nicky Boshell fired just wide.

The second half started with the big-spending visitors pushing up, but the hosts were able to cope, then Boshell saw an effort cleared off the line, as Guiseley continued to maintain control.

The Lions’ best chance then fell to Sinclair who hit a curled effort which smashed the top of the crossbar.

But promotion-chasing Rovers got the goal when substitute Brett Williams beat the offside trap and despite Atkinson’s best efforts his shot hit the crossbar and went in.
