Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo recovering following heart surgery

Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo is recovering at home following a 'routine' heart operation, he has revealed.

The Australian born former Whites player and England international took to social media to thank the NHS for their work and said he is now recovering at home.

The 52-year-old, who also has spells with Aston Villa, Chelsea, Derby County and Stoke City among others, wanted to take the time to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him while in hospital.

Dorigo's partner's ex-lover Gareth Senior was recently fined £500 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to Dorigo for headbutting him in swanky Leeds city centre store The White Company.He turned out for the Whites between 1991 and 1997, before moving on to Torino in Italy, while also racking up 15 international caps during his 18 year professional career.

Since retiring, Dorigo has forged a career in the media industry, working for the likes of Channel 5, ESPN and Sky, and still regularly attends games at Elland Road.
