Ex-Leeds United midfielder Murphy joins Bolton on two-year deal
FORMER Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has quickly found a new club after leaving the Whites with the 28-year-old joining Bolton Wanderers on a two-year-deal.
Murphy was not part of new United head coach Marcelo Bielsa's plans and Leeds announced on Wednesday evening that the midfielder''s contract at United had been terminated by mutual consent.
The Whites are now on course for a quick potential meeting with Murphy in less than two weeks' time with the player having signed for Championship club Bolton Wanderers, penning terms until 2020.
United take on Bolton in the EFL Cup first round at Elland Road on Tuesday, August 14 with the Whites facing their away league clash at the Trotters on Saturday, December 15.
The return league fixture at Elland Road will be on Saturday, February 23.
Murphy isigned for Leeds from Crewe for around £1m back in June 2013 but the midfielder has spent the last season and a half on loan at Burton Albion.
Murphy told Bolton's official site: "I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started and get to know everyone at such a great club.
"It’s a fantastic club that’s been in the Premier League and looking at the squad for this season, it shows real potential.
"Having spoken to the manager, and with the direction the club is going in, it was an easy decision for me."
Manager Phil Parkinson added: “We are pleased with the signing of Luke. He’s a player with plenty of Championship experience and we are looking forward to working with him.”
