Rotherham United 4 Bradford City 0: Four-some Millers sink sorry Bantams

ROTHERHAM UNITED made it two wins from as many league outings at the New York Stadium to end what had been a fine week for Bradford City on a low.

The Bantams had gone into the game on the back of a 5-1 win over AFC Wimbledon and a Capital One Cup defeat of Championship Watford.

But in a first half that saw both sides create chances, Steve Evans’ side did the damage with a trio of goals for Michael O’Connor, Gareth Evans and Ben Pringle without reply..

O’Connor and Pringle’s strikes from distance were both stunning but, even so, they should have been closed down long before looking up and picking their spot.

Evans, too, was left in far too much room after Bradford had failed to deal with a left wing cross by O’Connor on 24 minutes.

The former Bradford striker then added a fourth near the end to round off a fine afternoon for the hosts.

His goal came after both sides had created chances in an open second half with Rotherham’s Kayode Odejayi seeing his header cleared off the line by Gary Jones.

Evans should also have done better after Daniel Nardiello’s shot had been blocked by Matt Duke but he made amends with four minutes to go with a low shot into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

For City, James Hanson came within a whisker of applying the final touch to an inviting cross from Kyel Reid, who also shot just wide with a 20-yard effort soon after half-time.
