The Cherries boss confirmed he would be making changes but told reporters he would be leaving his selection “as a surprise”.

Howe has no fresh injury or suspension worries but long-term absentees Max Gradel, Tyrone Mings and Callum Wilson (all knee) are still a long way off returning to the squad.

Defender John Stones is fit for Everton’s FA Cup fifth-round clash with Bournemouth.

The England man has missed the Toffees’ last four matches with a hamstring complaint but has trained normally this week.

New signing Oumar Niasse is likely to have to wait for his debut as he is still recovering from minor wrist surgery while midfielder Muhamed Besic (hamstring) is out.
