Barrow 0 Guiseley 0: Lions grind out a point on Cox's first return to Holker Street

Paul Cox's Guiseley grabbed a point from his first return to Barrow.

Guiseley gained their second draw with Paul Cox as manager after drawing 0-0 at Barrow.

Cox returned to Holker Street just 19 days after leaving his former side.

Cox said: “You have to look at the bigger picture.

“The players showed a great mindset during the game. I want the players to believe a little bit more in the 4-4-2.

“We just need a goal, build that confidence that is key for us going forward.”

The hosts had the first chance when Bedsente Gomis was fed through into the area, his strike towards the near post was well saved by Joe Green who did well to block it with his legs. Guiseley had a fantastic chance just before half-time, when Connor Brown hit the post it fell to Jake Lawlor but his header from close range went wide.

The second-half was a struggle for both sides. Strong wind and rain meant first touches were an issue; Raul Correia saw his long range effort go just wide. A free-kick for the hosts was nodded into the six yard area, it could have fallen to anyone but instead passed the Barrow players and went to Green instead.

Guiseley could have won it late on when Kevan Hurst’s long-range effort on the half-volley zipped across the turf but went narrowly wide.
